Sagar Steels was established in Athgaon, Guwahati, Assam with the vision of becoming one of the largest steel traders of North-East India.

Authorised distributor for CR Coils & Sheets

After gaining a foothold in the North-East market, Sagar Steels was chosen by Tata Steel as their authorised distributor for CR Coils & Sheets.

Distributorship for GP Coils & Sheets

In 2001, Sagar Steels was awarded distributorship of Tata Steel’s GP Coils & Sheets. These pictures reflect our humble godown beginnings.

Steelium Zones across North-East

In collaboration with Tata Steel, we launched Steelium Zones across North-East and conducted extensive knowledge sharing sessions to promote the strength of Tata Steel’s products.

These early efforts helped establish Tata Steel’s flat products as market leaders in North-Eastern India.

40,000 MT sales achieved

Achieved sales of 40,000 MT and were awarded by Tata Steel for Excellence in Implementing Solutions.

First Service Centre with Cut-to-Length line

Our first service centre opened with a Cut-to-Length line. We were also appointed as distributors for Tata Steel’s HR Products.

We also won Tata Steel’s Distributor of the Year Award and the Best Promotion Award this year.

Launch of Steel n Style

Steel n Style, a furniture initiative from Tata Steel, was launched. We were also awarded by Tata Steel for Excellence in Implementing New Initiatives.

Chamakte Sitare Award

Recognised for Excellence in Implementing New Initiatives in FY08 and also won the ‘Chamakte Sitare’ award.

Distributor of the Year

We won Tata Steel’s ‘Distributor of the Year’ award for three consecutive years: FY09, FY10 and FY11.

In FY10, we hit the milestone of 1 lakh ton sales.

New Service Centre inaugurated

Our new Service Centre was inaugurated, bringing new and state-of-the-art technology for the first time to the North-East.

New products under the Sagar brand

New products like MS Tubes, Shutter Profile, Tagari and Door Hinges were launched under the ‘Sagar’ brand.

3 lakh ton sales achieved

We achieved the milestone of 3 lakh ton sales. The year also marked the 10th birthday of Steel n Style.

We were awarded for Best HR Practices in Tata Steel’s channel network.
